John Grant, M.D. - Bariatric Office Products CEO

As Director of the Duke University Weight Loss Surgery Center, Dr. John Grant developed this clinical and research software program from 2000 through 2009. After the surgical program was recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation in 2006, the software was modified to meet all requirements of BOLD database reporting. The program is now fully compliant and approved by the SRC for submission of data.

Dr. Grant was born in Columbia City, Indiana in 1942. He attended college at the University of Michigan and completed medical school at the University of Chicago in 1969. He received his residency training in surgery at Duke University Medical Center, spent two years doing research at the National Institutes of Health, and returned to Duke as a Professor of Surgery.

Dr. Grant is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and was instrumental in forming a Center of Excellence Weight Loss Surgery Program at Duke University Medical Center in Durham North Carolina and served as its Program Director through 2005. He has performed over 850 Laproscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures.
